MARNI - A Story of Survival

The memoir that started everything.

It took three attempts to put my own name on the cover.

The first version was called Crawling into the Light. The second, Phoenix. Both were true. But neither was quite honest enough. It wasn’t until the third iteration that I was ready to do the thing the book was actually about:

Just be Marni.

That small act — putting your own name on something, without a metaphor to hide behind — turns out to be the whole journey.

THE STORY

My life, on paper, is not an easy read. Abuse. Rape. Addiction. Homelessness. Prison.

What came next surprised everyone, including me: a multimillion-dollar business. Every visible marker of success.

And then I found myself on the floor.

That night — the lowest point of what looked like my highest point — was the beginning of the only story that actually mattered. Not the survival. Not the success. The awakening.

THE TURNING POINT

“Real freedom didn’t come until I discovered what truly matters.”
   — MARNI

What I found wasn’t a religion, a therapy, or a program. It was something more structural — a recognition that the version of me the world could see was only a fraction of who I actually was. That the emptiness wasn’t ingratitude or failure. It was information.

The life I had built was real. The success was real. The suffering was real. But I had been building everything on four percent of myself, and calling it the whole.

MARNI is the story of what happened when I stopped performing the life I was supposed to want, and started listening to the one I was actually built for.

WHAT THIS BOOK IS FOR

This is not a book about how bad things were. It’s a book about what became possible once I stopped letting the hard things define the ceiling.

If you have ever survived something that was supposed to break you — or achieved something that was supposed to fix you — this book was written from that exact place.

“It took three attempts to put my own name on the cover. That small act turns out to be the whole journey.”

Three titles. One story. A lifetime of becoming.

Crawling into the Light   →   Phoenix   →   MARNI

The title changed when the author was finally ready to simply be herself.

The journey to authenticity began here.
